Edinburgh

Edinburgh

Auld Reekie, wale o' ilka toun" - Robert Fergusson

Edinburgh, what a town. As many writers have through the ages stated, Edinburgh is special. I am proud to have been born and brought up here and to have worked on its streets for over thirty years. I know it back to front...even parts of Leith.

If you're planning a visit let me walk you through the streets where I can regale you with tales of times gone by, point out interesting and exciting landmarks and give you a flavour of what living here is like now, and was in the past.

One city, two towns

The Old Town, medieval construction, cobbled streets and closes, history everywhere. Deacon Brodie, Burke & Hare, Robert Fergusson, hopefully you can meet them all.

The New Town, streets carefully planned, buildings grandly constructed, the jewel of Georgian Europe.

To "get" Edinburgh it's worth visiting both, to see where the towns started, to understand why people moved between them and to see the differing sites of both.

Walking Tours

Edinburgh is a great city for walking. My walking tours of Edinburgh concentrate on the Old Town, the New Town or a combination of both. I'd recommend 3-4 hours for each tour though we can discuss shorter or longer walks.

I can start my tour at your hotel or wherever is convenient. I am okay with groups of up to twelve, in our crowded streets greater numbers can be problematic but not impossible.

I can tailor my tour to your specifications so please get in touch for pricing and availability.
